  • Acute Care
  • The Acute Care unit is where most patients receive personalized, 24 hour per day care, at St. Mary Polyclinic. Our experienced staff on this unit serves our patients who are hospitalized to receive specialized medical and surgical treatments and procedures that are not manageable as an outpatient. Our unit has 24 beds, including several private rooms and telemetry capability for monitoring heart rhythm. Private rooms are available for patients requiring isolation. Our nursing staff has a wide range of education and nursing experience. Staff certifications and credentialing include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); in addition to various certifications including medical surgical specialties, wound care, and continuous training in healthcare standards, patient safety and customer service/patient advocacy. Nursing care is based upon respect for the dignity and worth of every individual. We believe in quality care. Patients and families are involved in establishing care priorities. Discharge planning begins at pre-registration and includes both patient and family interaction. In addition, we provide a multidisciplinary team of cardiopulmonary, nutritional, laboratory, radiology, and social services professionals Professionalism, caring, flexibility and commitment to continuous improvement are key qualities of our nursing staff. Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Certified Nurses Assistants make up our Nursing Care Team at ST.Mary's Polyclinic with our primary goals of providing efficient, quality, individualized and comprehensive nursing care to all patients. In order to provide all of our inpatients, Acute Care Unit, the timeliest care, ST.Mary's Polyclinic provides a physician in our facility 24 hours per day, seven days per week with our hospitalist program.
  • Observation
  • Another option for care at St. Mary Polyclinic is Observation Care. When our patients are too sick to be treated as an outpatient, but the physician would like more time to make a clinical decision about whether the patient needs to be admitted as an inpatient to the Medical Surgical Unit or Critical Care Unit or Transfer to another facility, we have an Observation Care Level. This means patients do not have to spend hours in the emergency room or in a clinic, but can instead go to an inpatient room and receive all of our multidisciplinary, professional care and allow the physician time to evaluate the results and make a clinical decision for next steps in patient care. Observation Care Level provides all of the same nursing and interdisciplinary care that any other inpatient receives with a focus on a clinical decision to admit to inpatient care, to transfer, or to discharge to outpatient care. Observation Care Level ensures that you spend as little time as possible in the hospital.
